The Christmas Tree tradition by Martina


In Malta we decorate a Christmas Tree, but this is not a Maltese tradition. The Christmas tree is a Christmas tradition that started in German in the 16th Century. They used to build pyramids of wood and decorate them with grass and candles. Once there was a man who was going through the forest and when he saw the stars shining through the trees he wanted to reproduce this scene at home to be appreciated by the whole family. So he put a tree in his hall and decorated the branches with candles.

Villa Apap Bologna Photo by Ayden Villa Apap Bologna was the property of the Noble Apap Bologna. In 1792 Grandmaster de Rohan   gave   him the title of "Marquis ta'   Ġnien is- Sultan". This was beneficial for the Marsascala parish church.
