Villa Apap Bologna was the property of the Noble Apap Bologna. In 1792 Grandmaster de Rohan  gave  him the title of "Marquis ta'  Ġnien is- Sultan". This was beneficial for the Marsascala parish church. In 1997 Villa Apap Bologna including the chapel were given to  the  Archbishop to serve as a home for the elderly priests.
